GUWAHATI: The Crime Branch made another arrest on Saturday as part of the ongoing investigation into the land document fraud case. The accused is identified as Bharat Deka, who is a chowkidar in the sub registrar branch of the DC office in Kamrup (M). This leads to a total of 13 accused being arrested in the land document fraud case.

According to sources, a case (12/23; U/S. 120 (B)/419/420 IPC, R/w Sec. 66 C/66 D IT Act) with additional sections (409/468/471 IPC) has been registered in the Cyber Police Station relating to the counterfeit land documents, and based on evidence, 12 people have already been arrested.

Based on information, Tapash Choudhury, Advocate Mainul Hoque (40), Nitul Das (40), who is a junior assistant in the office of the sub-registrar in the DC office, and Dhrub Jyoti Barman (34), a data entry operator in the Revenue Circle office in Dispur, Bapdhan Das (58), Lat Mandal of Dispur Revenue Circle, were arrested along with Ramen Modahi, who sustained a bullet injury in a police firing.

Again, based on the information provided by the other accused, another six were already arrested and identified as Sadoy Kr Deka (39) extra writer in Sub-Registrar Office, Hengrabari; Debasish Baruah (37) extra writer in Sub-Registrar Office, Kamrup (M); Dipankar Jyoti Kalita (38) a contractual data entry operator in Dispur Revenue Circle Office; Pankaj Das (36), a home guard in Sub-Registrar Office, Hengrabari; Nayan Kalita (39) an office peon in the sub-registrar office, Hengrabari; Niranjan Kalita (48) an office peon in the sub-registrar office, Kamrup (M).
