Liquor dens concocting brew of death

GUWAHATI: After death tolls amounting to more than hundreds now, the Excise department has finally opened its eyes regarding the hooch tragedy in Upper Assam. The Kamrup (M) Excise Department conducted an operation in various parts of the city and unearthed various secret hideouts brewing liquor illegally. In Tamulikuchi, Jorabat, many liquor concocting dens were destroyed along with 500 kg farmend wash and 100 litre of liquor. Investigations were also performed in 14th Mile, Bhangagarh and the area near Guwahati Railway Station where various other liquor concocting ingredients, along with local brew liquor were discovered and destroyed.

Meanwhile, GRP conducted their own operation at Narengi Railway Station and managed to nab many persons in possession of local brew liquor in trains inbound form Upper Assam. The liquor has been seized and consequently destroyed.
