Man held for rape attempt by Guwahati Police

GUWAHATI: A middle-aged man was arrested by Guwahati Police for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl on Monday night. The incident was reported from Bylane No. 8 in the Lachit Nagar area. The accused is identified as Bhola Panjiyar.

According to sources, the accused allegedly entered the victim's home when her parents were not there. When he tried to rape her, a few neighbours promptly stepped in to stop the accused as they overheard noise inside the residence. Panjiyar was apprehended and handed over to the Paltan Bazar Police Station soon after.
