Man Lands In Jail For ‘False’ Affidavit

GUWAHATI: Justice Mir Alfaz Ali of the Gauhati High Court has directed the Registry of the court to lodge a complaint against Azizur Rahman for swearing in an affidavit falsely declaring that no other bail application for petitioner Tariful Rahman was pending in the high court or any other court. The fact remains that there is another bail application for the bail petitioner (Tariful Rahman) is pending in the high court. Azizur Rahman admitted this before the bench on Tuesday that he had sworn in both the affidavits because of his ignorance.

Pending judgment of the complaint, Azizur Rahman has been taken into custody. He will now be taken into judicial custody as the Judge directed that he be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on May 29, 2019.
