GUWAHATI: The Income Tax Gazetted Officers' Association (ITGOA) has distributed around Rs. 5.90 lakh among the flood-affected people in Kamrup, Nalbari, Dhubri, Barpeta, Nagaon, Hojai, Majuli, Darrang, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts this year. It has also has also distributed essential items to the flood-affected people Dimoria (Khetri) in association with Pratishruti Foundation.

The items distributed include bleaching powder, sanitizer, masks, soaps, sanitary napkins.

This year, the ITGOA has coordinated with different social organizations in different flood-affected districts of Assam and collected bank accounts of affected families and transferred money directly to such 398 families. The entire amount so transferred was made out of contributions made by the members of the ITGOA, NER Unit, aided by the benevolence from the members of West Bengal unit.

Speaking on their efforts, Amitava Dey, President and Rajarshi Saha, general secretary of the ITGOA, NER Unit said that it is the moral obligation and duty of every human-being to stand beside a fellow human-being at all times and that their entire organization is inspired by Bharat Ratna, the Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's timeless clarion call, 'Manuhe Manuhor Baabe…', a press release said.

In the relief efforts this time, around Rs. 5.90 Lakhs have been distributed to the flood affected people spread over Kamrup (Rural), Nalbari, Dhubri, Barpeta, Nagaon, Hojai, Majuli, Darrang, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam.

Further, the ITGOA, NER Unit has also distributed essential items to the flood affected people Dimoria (Khetri) in association with Pratishruti Foundation. The items distributed include bleaching powder, sanitizer, masks, soaps, sanitary napkins.
