GUWAHATI: On the eve of Martyrs' Day, the All Assam Martyrs'-Victim Family Council held a press meet at Guwahati Press Club headed by the Council's president Binanda Nirmalia and secretary Kushal Pathak.

Addressing the media persons, the Council urged the government to fulfill their 'promises' which they made on July 2, 2016.

The members stated that the Government assured them to provide job opportunities. However, till date only five people have been recruited in the Water Resource Department. The Council urged the government to recruit the remaining candidates within January 1, 2021.

Further, the Council demanded 5 per cent reservation in the Assam Legislative Assembly and appealed to the Government to make a complete description of the martyrs who lost their lives for the sake of their motherland.

Other demands include - 2 acres of land for construction of the Central Council's office, reservation in the field of medical and engineering to the members of the martyrs' family, and 5 per cent reservation in Assam Public Service Commission.
