
GUWAHATI: Massive fire broke out in the railway colony of Panbazar on Thursday 4 November. The fire broke out during the morning hours and mainly affected the area near Kalimandir Path located in the Railway colony.
According to sources, the fire spread over a large area and led to the destruction of several houses in the railway colony setting houses ablaze.
One of the houses in the area that belonged to Basanti Basfore got severely affected by the fire. The huge fire in the area as a whole resulted in the loss of property worth more than ten lakhs.
Meanwhile, two fire tenders later reached the fire spot to stop the spreading fire from causing more harm. The fire took some time to stop after the fire protection service pour water on it.
The reason for the fire in the railway colony is not yet accurately known though it is suspected by the locals that the fire might break out from Diyas lit up to celebrate Diwali.
An incident like this is common during Diwali every year as people from all over the country celebrates the festival by lighting a number of diyas at their houses and bursting fireworks.
During this festival, people need to be much careful while bursting fireworks or lighting Diyas to protect themselves and others from getting harmed. Everyone must be individually aware of safety issues so that they can stop the occurrence of such fire incidents in their localities.
