GUWAHATI: SBIOA NE Circle, in association with AIBOC Assam State Unit, organized a befitting assemblance of more than 150 members from all across the banking sector to commemorate the historical event of celebrating workers’ rights on International Labour Day at its SBIOA Bhangagarh premises.

The programme started with shouting of slogans and pledge to foster unity amongst the fraternity and with a resolve to fight for restoration of workers’ rights and keeping intact the dignity of labour.

In the morning, the May Day flag was made unfurled by Comrade Sanjib Sen, the DGS(HQ) of SBIOA and also the State secretary of AIBOC Assam Unit, who was duly assisted by the president of AIBOC Assam Unit Comrade, Alokesh Bhattacharjee. Both Comrade Sen and Bhattacharjee narrated in detail the history of May Day celebration and elaborated the relevance of May Day and the issues involved with it. Both of them laid emphasis on a sustained struggle and maintenance of workers’ unity to accomplish the goal for a better work place and improvement of service conditions for bank officers. Opposing vehemently the government policies and how the bank officers are subjected to an ongoing suppression and oppression, the leadership resolved to fight strongly and create resistance against the idea of privatization of nationalized banks.

The flag hoisting ceremony concluded with shouting of slogans where the entire assemblance joined in unison resolving to stop all kinds of workplace atrocities faced by the officers. The second phase of the meeting was graced by the Principal of SBOA Public School, Mrinali Choudhury, faculty Dheer Ranjan Kashyap and all the support staff of the SBOA Public School, stated a press release.
