Guwahati: With its rich natural resources and the topographical advantage of proximity to Southeast Asian markets, Assam offers limitless economic possibilities. This vision inspired Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch the Act East Policy, envisioning Assam as the next growth engine of the nation.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma echoed this vision, leading to amendments in industrial policies that have yielded significant results. These efforts have attracted several mega industrial projects worth approximately Rs 50,000 crore, including the establishment of a futuristic semiconductor ATMP unit by Tata Electronics of Tata Companies, with an investment of over Rs 27,000 crore.

Emphasising all of this, Assam Industry Minister Bimal Borah interacted with several business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs at the roadshow in Dubai this evening as a precursor to the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit.

The minister also highlighted several initiatives, such as the Jogighopa Multimodal Logistics Park, which will position Assam as a logistics and trade hub for India's Northeast. These efforts include enhancing inland waterways to facilitate the transport of goods and leveraging Assam's topographical advantage to foster international trade links with neighbouring and Southeast Asian countries.

Besides, the several infrastructure development initiatives also highlighted how Assam is a tourist heaven given its wide range of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The land caters to a variety of tourists, from the wildlife enthusiast to the one on a spiritual quest, or even for those who are only looking forward to being in the peace and tranquillity of nature.

The minister summed up the road show by underscoring how Assam's strategic location, investor-friendly policies, and transformative infrastructure projects make it a prime destination for Dubai investors to tap into emerging markets and high-growth opportunities. Later the industry minister also took part in an interactive session with local media persons, a press release said.
