GUWAHATI: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday sought greater central support for pulse cultivation and small farmers at the National Conference on AgriStack and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses in New Delhi. Hazarika highlighted Assam’s progress in pulse cultivation and the potential of rice-fallow areas and char and chapori belts. He sought priority allocation of breeder seeds suitable for the Northeast and 100 per cent subsidy on certified pulse seeds for two to three years to support small and marginal farmers.  He also urged the Centre to bring small tea growers receiving Farmer IDs under AgriStack within the PM-KISAN scheme. Hazarika further highlighted Assam’s AgriStack initiatives, including high-yield village clusters, post-harvest infrastructure, Custom Hiring Centres and integration of Soil Health Card data with Farmer Field Schools.
