GUWAHATI: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Muminul Aowal said that the Miya culture will not be promoted in any part of the State.

Stongly opposing the establishment of Miya Museum at SrimantaSankaradevaKalakshetra, he said such museum will not be allowed to set in any part of the State. "If MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed wants to construct the museum in his constituency – Baghbor then also we will prevent it," Aowal stressed.

We will have to make the Legislative Assembly free from Miyas, he stated.

Further, he opined that the Miya people are Bangladeshi infiltrators. "Most of the Miyas were granted Indian citizenship based on the Assam Accord cut-off date. They are not sons of soil of the State and will never be a part of the indigenous Assamese community. We, the Assamese people should always resist the aggression of the Miya culture."

He added that the in the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, no Miya MLA will be allowed to enter the House.

"Due to the Congress and AIUDF alliance around 10 to 15 Miya MLAs will win seats. Even if they win, they will not be allowed to enter the Assembly and we will democratically protest against them," Aowal added.
