Muminul Aowal: Scam in minority students' scholarships

GUWAHATI: The Assam Minority Development Board (AMDB) has filed a case with the CID against the alleged scam in various scholarship schemes meant for minority students in Assam. Talking to The Sentinel on Sunday, AMDB Chairman Muminul Aowal said, "We did sniff a scam in the disbursement of scholarships to the minority students in Assam since the Congress regime. We did move the CID last year with the filing of a case, leading to the arrest of a number of officials in Nagaon, Barpeta and Morigaon districts. The scholarships are paid online, but some bank officials, school headmasters and brokers are involved in swindling of funds meant for the students. We urged the CID to find out the culprits and ensure their punishment, whoever they might be."
