GUWAHATI: On the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, Consumer VOICE - New Delhi and the Consumers' Legal Protection Forum, Assam jointly urged the government to strengthen tobacco control laws to combat the menace of tobacco and reduce cancer prevalence.
They mentioned that the Indian Council of Medical Research predicted a rise in cancer cases from 26.7 million in 2022 to 29.8 million in 2025, with tobacco being the leading cause.
