GUWAHATI: Cancel AHSEC Exam: The NSUI (National Students' Union of India) Assam on Wednesday requested the State government to cancel the board examinations at the earliest for the safety and health of the children.

The students' body underlined that it would continue its State campaign to cancel SEBA/AHSEC Board examinations. In the upcoming days, it will also launch a digital campaign to bring out the plight of the students.

"For the past few months, several students had contacted NSUI officials including students from Assam who had expressed their dissatisfaction and discontent with the policy paralysis of the Government of India on organizing the Board examination. The nation was going through difficult times with the onset of the 2nd wave of COVID-19 in which many such students lost their parents, teachers and fellow friends. This had caused huge psychological stress and trauma amongst students. The NSUI members led a successful campaign against organizing examination for 12th standard Board and in under this pressure; the Government has finally decided to withheld the CBSE 12th Board examination this year," said Assam NSUI president Krishanu Baruah in a release.

The NSUI stressed that the government till today has no concrete policy of vaccination of children below the age of 18 years; making them the most susceptible age group to be affected by this virus.

"Millions of students over the past few days had connected with our campaign highlighting their plight upon social media. To make their voices heard in New Delhi, NSUI relentlessly pursued the Education Ministry with ground reality which ultimately led to a change of heart of the Narendra Modi Government. In this regard, NSUI Assam State President congratulates our entire students' fraternity for pursuing a successful campaign," the release added.
