New city bus fares notified in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The District Transport Officer and Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority of Kamrup (M) recently notified a hike in city bus fares for the city.

The Notification said that an earlier Notification issued by the department in this regard in 2019 could not be discussed and approved due to some unavoidable circumstances, including the Covid-related lockdown. However, the matter has been now discussed and approved.

The revised fare structure will be: Rs 10 for 0-5 km; Rs 15 for 5-9 km; Rs 18 for 9-13 km; Rs 22 for 13-17 km; Rs 26 for 17-21 km; and Rs 30 for 21-25 km. An additional fare of Rs 1 per km will have to be paid for distances beyond 25 km. The Notification directed the City Bus Association, owners, drivers and conductors to collect fares as per this tariff.
