GUWAHATI: The State Government has barred has newly-appointed teaching or non-teaching staff from resigning and joining any other post for at least three years from the date of joining duty under the Secondary Education Department.
An Office Memorandum issued by the Secretary of the Secondary Education Department mentioned that each new appointee will now have to sign a bond with the appointing authority averring that he/she will not join any other post for at least three years.
It also directed the appointing authorities not to issue or forward any No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the higher authority for allowing any such appointee to apply for appointment in another post before the three-year period is over.
It may be mentioned that a section of employees under the Secondary Education Department, especially teachers, quit their jobs as soon they secure administrative or other lucrative jobs, causing a manpower crisis in their respective high schools.
The latest three-year embargo has evoked a positive response from the general public. However, many teachers are unhappy with the Government step and questioned the motive behind the decision.
