

'Sustained efforts to keep local economy moving'
MALIGAON: The NFR (NF Railway) continues to maintain steady growth in freight loading during October, 2021. The NFR loaded 0.869 MT during October, 2021. This is an increase of 17.8% in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. The N. F. Railway loaded 5.693 MT during the period from April to October, 2021 as compared to 4.190 MT done in corresponding period of last year. This is an increase of 35.9%.
Loading of few commodities was increased by a substantial margin in N. F. Railway during October, 2021 in comparison to last year. Dolomite loading increased by 91.2%, container loading increased by 71.4%, cement loading increased by 62.5%, and loading of miscellaneous commodities which includes items like stone chips, ballast etc. increased by 82.8% during October, 2021.
During this year from April to October, 2021, dolomite loading increased by 246.3% in comparison to the same period of last year. Food grains loading increased by 7.7%, container loading increased by 90.3%, fertiliser loading increased by 26%, cement loading increased by 62.2%, other commodities increased by 132.1%; and it is an overall increase of 35.9% in comparison to the last years loading up to October, 2020, stated a press release.
The sustained efforts of Business Development Units (BDUs) at Headquarters and Divisional levels have helped capture new traffic and to boost in freight loading. The Business Development Units are also providing necessary assistance whatever required by local traders to keep the local economy moving.
