Niren Barua Memorial Recitation Competition to be held on November 25 in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A recitation competition will be organized by the New Art Players (NAP), a leading socio-cultural organisation in the state, on November 24 at its own cultural complex located behind Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School, Guwahati.

NAP is organizing this competition every year in fond memory of one of its most senior members, renowned actor-directors of stage, radio, film, and television media, and popular Assamese news reader of All India Radio, the late Niren Barua.

Each competitor will be required to recite a self-selected Assamese poem within five minutes, and the eligibility criteria for the competitors has been fixed at a minimum of sixteen years. Besides cash awards of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3000, and Rs. 2000 to the best three competitors, there shall be permanent trophies and certificates of appreciation too. The last date to join in this competition is November 23, 2023.
