GUWAHATI: The people of Rani Chapori alleged that they were defrauded by the BJP-led government as they didn't receive any flood relief assistance for past two years.

The Rani Chapori Pothar Porichalona Samiti said, "The Chapori covers an area of 4,000 bighas of land, and some of the farmers cultivate to eke out their living, but floods in 2019 and 2020 severely damaged their crops."

"Local MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita did announce flood relief in 2019 after visiting the Chapori, but the farmers didn't receive any relief. Again in 2020, the farmers were affected by floods from June to September," said the samiti.

Meanwhile, on October last Atul Bora announced that every farmer would get flood relief money, but till now the farmers didn't receive any financial assistance from the government, they said.

The farmers want MLA Kalita to look into this matter.
