GUWAHATI: The Indian Oil on Monday rejected the reports of a possible LPG crisis in Assam due to the lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak.
“As on date, IndianOil has a stock of over 7 days LPG coverage in hand including that in transit, while adequate bulk tankers are plying as usual to bring bulk LPG from Haldia and Durgapur to its LPG Bottling plants in Assam. It would like to assure itscustomers that the logistics of Bulk LPG required for NE are being monitored and met adequately and there is absolutely no reason to worry,” a statement issued by the IndianOil said.
IndianOil is also ensuring adequate safety of all personnel by setting up medical camps in all its bottling plants where all the preliminary check- up is carried out of of each and every person entering the premises.
The company is also in discussions with the District Health authorities on setting up isolation centres and mini – check up camps where a thorough testing of the persons who have crossed the state borders will be done.
He also exhorted customers to desist from hoarding and to avoid panic booking.
“When we overbook, we only deprive someone else who is in a more dire need for an LPG cylinder. Let us also spare a thought for the delivery boys who turn up at your place with a filled cylinder and then find out that you do not have a empty cylinder. For every such failed delivery it is not only one trip wasted, it is also needless exposure to the virus for the delivery boy.” Ramesh said.
