
GUWAHATI: Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has said that from now on, no department or agency can dig roads in the district without the permission of the DC's office, the Public Works Department or the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
This directive came during a meeting of the District Development Committee at here on Wednesday, which was attended among others by Additional Commissioner Sukanya Bora, Assistant Commissioner Anurag Rudra and senior officers of Kamrup (M) district.
According to an official communiqué, the Deputy Commissioner said that all schools in the district must have drinking water and directed the Public Health Engineering Department and the Deputy Inspector of Schools to take action in this regard. The meeting also discussed issues related to ensuring water supply to Anganwadi centers, besides implementing the Neel Nirmal Yojana and Jal Jeevan Abhiyan. Jha also directed the officers concerned to accord priority to implementation of the Prime Minister's initiatives for welfare of farmers, including preparation of farmers' Aadhar cards. He also took stock of works of the Health and Family Welfare, Labour and Soil Conservation Departments
The meeting also directed the concerned departments to take all necessary measures for the construction of Sharab Bhatti, Maligaon Azara railway station flyovers.
