GUWAHATI: The members of the All Assam Non-Provincialised Teachers Association staged a protest in Chachal demanding the provincialization of the teachers who had been missed out on earlier.
In a statement, the organisation mentioned that they have been protesting against the act for the provincialization of the teacher posts since its passing in 2017–18. And after discussions on October 20, 2022, the Chief Minister promised that the same would be done through amendments to the act. But no action has been taken in this direction. Also, as of April 1, 2023, the government has stopped the mid-day meal scheme in these institutions.
The teachers’ body condemned this dual nature of the government and has demanded that action be taken soon towards provincialization and giving due rights to the teachers working towards the betterment of the students studying in these schools.
