Noonmati Police held 60-year-old man for 'raping' minor girl

GUWAHATI: Noonmati Police on Monday arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl in the Noonmati area.

According to sources, the 6-year old girl was alone at home in the afternoon. Taking advantage of this, the accused, identified as Dwijen Ramsiyari, got inside the house and allegedly raped the girl. Sources added that the girl's 10 year-old brother saw this but he felt scared and fled the scene.

When her parents returned home, the girl narrated the incident. They lodged a police complaint against Ramsiyari. Police arrested him and registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012 at Noonmati Police Station.
