Noted children's writer Gagan Chandra Adhikari passes away in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Noted children's writer Gagan Chandra Adhikari passed away at the age of 79 at a city hospital on Wednesday evening. He was suffering from heart and kidney related ailments and was admitted to the hospital for few days.

Adhikari received Sahitya Academy award for children literature.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed grief over his demise. He said through children literature Adhikari extended development to the mind and soul which the society will cherish forever.

His death is a loss to both the children literature and the society, the CM added.

Chief Minister's Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami and Publication Board Assam also expressed deep condolence over his demise.

Adhikari was the chief advisor of popular children's magazine Mukuta which is published by Publication Board Assam.
