GUWAHATI: Close on the heels of the murder of an elderly man named Ajit Chetia at Tetelia here on Saturday night, another murder has come to light in the city with the discovery of the murder of a middle-aged man at Bamunimaidam here on Monday morning.

According to police sources, the body of one Kajal Das (48) was found lying at Sitalabari in Bamunimaidam with his throat slit.

Das was a casual employee of the Railway Cooperative store and he was a resident of BP Chaliha Road of the locality.

The sources said that Das had gone out of his house after lunch at around 2.30 pm on Sunday and did not return home after that. Das' mobile phone was found along with his body, but there was no purse.

Police suspect that the murder may have been committed by some drug addict.

If required, the team will take required technical support, the sources said. A case has been registered (No. 219/22 u/s 302 IPC) in this connection.

According to sources, the team will also investigate whether Chetia's murder has any link with the multi-crore-rupee financial anomalies in AMTRON, in connection with which the CID has already arrested some persons.

Meanwhile, Chetia's family has informed that media that he used to receive some phone calls of late which left him depressed.
