Guwahati: In a remarkable display of vigilance and dedication, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Guwahati Railway Station rescued three minor children, two girls and a boy, under the nationwide initiative "Operation Nanhe Faristey" on Tuesday.
The rescue took place around 11 am during a routine drive conducted by the RPF to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons and to identify runaway or distressed children within the station premises. During the operation, RPF personnel noticed three minors loitering in a confused and distressed state near the General Waiting Hall (KYQ end) on Platform No. 1.
On being approached, the children disclosed their identities. The girls hailing from Jaldaba Part-2 under Kajigaon Police Station in Dhubri district. The third child, a boy was from Chautara village in Kokrajhar district. During questioning, the children stated that they had fled from their respective homes with the intention of visiting Guwahati city. They had reportedly arrived at the station by an unknown train without informing their families.
Acting swiftly, the RPF team ensured the immediate safety of the rescued minors. The two girls were handed over to Railway Childline officials and subsequently rehabilitated at the Jalukbari Children Home. The minor boy was taken to the Fatasil Ambari Children Home for safe custody and further care.
