Guwahati: Panic has gripped residents of Dulu Basumatary Path in Guwahati after a suspected spray gang allegedly looted three houses during the intervening night of July 11, rendering the occupants unconscious using chemical sprays. The burglaries occurred at House Numbers 15, 16, and 4, with the gang reportedly fleeing with valuables including gold and silver ornaments, cash, and six mobile phones. Among the affected were Dipak Das, a tenant residing at Swapan Basumatary’s home, as well as Santu Basumatary and Manish Gautam, whose houses were also targeted. Residents were reportedly unconscious during the break-ins, pointing to the possible use of an anaesthetic or chemical agent. The incident has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, raising concerns over rising criminal activity and the use of dangerous methods by burglars. Fatasil Police Station has launched an investigation into the case, and forensic teams are expected to examine the scene. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Residents are calling for heightened night patrolling and swift action to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
