GUWAHATI: The Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offences (BIEO), led by Superintendent of the Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs unit Dilip Kumar Deka, launched a drive in Lejamgaon under Phulbari Police Station of Goalpara district against illegal trade in blue kerosene provided under the Public Distribution System (PDS). According to sources, the racket was being operated by three brothers, namely Hafizur Rahman, Rafikul Islam and Hayat Ali. While the three miscreants fled before the arrival of the BIEO team, 880 litres of PDS kerosene were seized from the residence and business premises of Hafizur Rahman, the sources said, adding that 64 empty drums were also found during the raid.
Another 25 empty drums were recovered from Rafikul Islam's house and 10 drums were recovered from Hayat Ali's house.
