GUWAHATI: The Greater Guwahati unit of the North East India Petroleum Dealers' Association (NEIPDA) on Saturday withdrew its proposed indefinite petrol pump bandh call from September 7 in the city.

The call was announced on Friday in protest against alleged harassment on dealers by oil companies.

The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration on Saturday convened an emergent meeting with the representatives of the BPCL, IOCL, HPCL and the NEIPDA. "BPCL has assured the district administration and us that they will resume supply of motor spirit (MS) and high speed diesel (HSD) immediately as demanded by our association and they have extended the time to sign the agreement till December 2020, which was our one-point demand," Rajib Goswami, president of the NEIPDA (GGU) said in a statement on Saturday evening.

"Therefore, after signing the minutes, we have decided to withdraw our indefinite petrol pump bandh and accordingly, it has been withdrawn immediately," Goswami said.
