GUWAHATI: In all government and provincialized schools, lemon trees must be planted in the boundary walls of the school so that produce can be used in PM POSHAN.

In regards to this, Sanjoy Dutta, Executive Director, SSA (Samagra Shiksha, Assam), wrote a letter to the District Mission Coordinators, SSA, and Assistant District Nodal Officers, PM POSHAN, and instructed every school to plant lemon trees and also submit a progress report every five months. The main reason for planting is so that every student can consume that lemon during their midday meal in their respective schools.

A meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam with SSMC (State Steering and Monitoring Committee) PM Poshan was held on February 22, where the decision to plant lemon trees was discussed.
