Popular Assamese singer Vidya Sagar and actor Asha Bordoloi join BJP

GUWAHATI: Popular Assamese singer Vidya Sagar and actor Asha Bordoloi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. Noted litterateur Prava Choudhury Dastidar also joined the party along with former Sports Secretary of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Tapan Das.

They joined the party in presence of State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Lok Sabha MPs Pallab Lochan Das and Topon Kumar Gogoi at the party headquarters in Hengerabari.

Talking to the mediapersons, Asha Bordoloi said she decided to join the BJP after seeing the selfless service of the workers. She asserted that the BJP will never work against the Assamese community. Singer Vidya Sagar gave her confidence to the party and said that the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) will never harm the Assamese community and it was misinterpreted. Both the artiste underlined that they will not take contest in the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly elections. Party president Dass stressed that the doors of the BJP is open to every. Whoever wants to join the BJP is welcomed whole heartedly, he added.
