PPF praises CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's stand on Eid al-Adha

GUWAHATI: The Progressive People's Foundation (PPF), a Guwahati-based registered trust working for the unprivileged section of the society, has expressed its respect and gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his initiative and remarks on peaceful performance of Eid al-Adha by following the existing laws.

A press release stated that the PPF "highly appreciates his steps, the way he handled, managed and issued proper instructions at the right time when the whole Muslim community was in panic. PPF also expresses its deepest respect towards the judiciary for its verdict yesterday whereby the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court clearly declared that there is no bar in extending Qurbani by Muslim community by following the prevailing Acts and laws."

The press release further stated that the PPF also appreciates the role of Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury, Senior Advocate, for placing the matter in the right earnest before the High Court. PPF also thanked all the people of Assam, irrespective of caste, creed or community, for extending their support for peaceful celebration the holy Eid today.
