Press Council of India Seeks Entries for National Awards

GUWAHATI: The Press Council of India has invited Entries from journalists/freelancers in order to recognize their outstanding contributions in print journalism. The Entries must reach the council by August 30, 2019, a communiqué issued by the council said. The Press Council has been mandated by the Parliament to improve the standards of journalism and maintain its freedom. The council has, therefore, instituted national awards to honour outstanding journalists on the occasion of National Press Day on November 16.

The awards will be given in eight categories will carry cash prize and citation. The categories are Raja Ram Mohan Roy National Award for Excellence in Journalism, Rural Journalism, Development Reporting, Photo Journalism (Single News Picture & Photo Feature), Best Newspapers Art : Covering cartoons, caricatures and illustrations, Sports Reporting/Sports Photo Feature, Financial Reporting and Gender Issue Reporting.
