GUWAHATI: The Lokpriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport's (LGBI) terminal and other tourists facilities will be privatized as the partnership seeks to provide high quality services through private partnership.

In this regard, State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) spokesperson Lakhya Konwar said that the private partnership is aimed at improving the quality of services for passengers in the entry to boarding point in the airport. He said that the Congress and the Left parties, motivated by purely political motives, have resorted to extreme misinterpretation of propaganda in this regard without going into the depths of the subject matter. According to the spokesperson, the Congress had earlier managed to operate Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad international airports in private partnership under the auspices of the Congress. "All the three airports are providing high quality services within the country. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has lauded the recent transfer of Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram airport to a similarly private partnership and hoped that the airport would be improved through it," Konwar asserted.

Further, he underlined that, "The propaganda made by the Congress leaders in Assam is purely politically motivated. It is possible to bring airports up to international standards with the participation of public and private sector. This model is already popular and effective in many countries around the world."
