Prohibitory order against bursting crackers near oil lines

GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ripul Das has issued an order under Section 144 prohibiting the use and bursting of firecrackers in the vicinity of Guwahati Refinery and the old pipe lines within Central Police District, Guwahati.

The bursting of crackers may cause inflammation as huge quantities of highly volatile and inflammable petroleum products are stored in Guwahati Refinery and pumped through the old pipe lines passing through Central Police District, Guwahati. This poses an imminent danger to the safety and security of the residents residing in the vicinity of Guwahati Refinery.

As such, the Deputy Commissioner of Police has banned the bursting of crackers within 500 meter radius from Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati and the old pipe lines passing through Central Police District, Guwahati with immediate effect and will remain in force upto midnight of October 29, 2019.

However, any person aggrieved with the order is at liberty to appear before the court and file their written objection for cancellation/ modification of the ex-parte order.
