GUWAHATI: Punjab National Bank, Guwahati Zone (North East India) donated Rs. 1.62 crore to the Government of Assam for purchase of medical equipment in 16 districts of the State.

Punjab National Bank on Tuesday presented a cheque (replica) valued at Rs. 1.62 crore to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a small ceremony held at the Janata Bhavan, Dispur, stated a press release. The cheque was presented by S S Singh, Zonal Head and General Manager of the Bank's Guwahati Zone(North East). Singh was accompanied by Nirendra Kumar, Rajendra Singh and other officials of the Bank. Siddharth Singh, Commissioner & Secretary, Public Health Engineering & IT Department of Assam, too graced the occasion with his presence.

The contribution made by PNB will be utilized for the purchase of medical equipment in 16 districts of Assam. The whole project is being carried out in consultation with the National Health Mission Assam with active cooperation by the Mission Director Dr. Lakshmanan S.
