Ragging incident reported at Assam Engineering Institute, Chandmari

GUWAHATI: An incident of alleged ragging of a junior student at Assam Engineering Institute (AEI), Chandmari has been reported. Based on the FIR lodged by the victim, a case was registered at Chandmari Police Station (543/22 u/s 294/384/325/427/392/506/34 IPC) and investigation was done.

Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Diganta Borah told media persons that based on the investigation, the police picked up four senior students for questioning. The allegations against two out of the four students were proved. They were later released on bail.Borah said that further investigation in the case was on.

The two students who were released on bail have been identified as Debojit Boro (19) and Mukthan Boro (19).The victim junior student was reportedly stripped and tortured. The seniors also resorted to using foul language against him and thrashed him.
