Guwahati: City based Pratiksha Hospital is set to be acquired by Rainbow Children’s Medicare Limited (RCML) for ₹171 crore in a deal that will be fully funded through the company’s cash reserves. RCML will acquire a 76% controlling stake, while founder Dr Pramod Kumar Sharma and his family will retain the remaining shares.
This acquisition marks RCML’s debut in Assam and the wider Northeast, bringing advanced paediatric and perinatal care to a region where such specialized services are still limited. The move will add 150 beds to RCML’s existing network, raising its total capacity to approximately 2,185 beds across 21 hospitals in eight cities.
Established in 1995, Pratiksha Hospital has been a pioneer in IVF and minimally invasive gynaecological procedures in the region, delivering its first IVF baby in February 1997. Under the new ownership, the facility will be renamed Pratiksha Rainbow Children’s Hospital and integrated into RCML’s national network with standardized branding, clinical protocols, and governance systems.
Patients in the Northeast will also gain access to Rainbow’s regional hubs in Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, enabling referrals for advanced treatments and seamless continuity of care.
