RCPI leader and freedom fighter Ambu Bora passes away

GUWAHATI: Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI) leader and freedom fighter Ambu Bora breathed his last on Tuesday morning at around 11 am at his Ganeshguri residence. He was 92 years old. Felicitated as a veteran freedom fighter by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee for his valuable sacrifice and contribution during the freedom struggle, Ambu Bora was also known for his friendship with revolutionary leader and artist Bishnu Prasad Rabha, both of whom fought for the rights of the farmers of the land in Independent India.

He had served as the state secretary of the RCPI and remained a lifelong member of the party. The party was the vanguard of the historic land movement of the 1950s that ultimately paved the way for introducing the Ceiling Act and laws for safeguarding interests of agricultural labours in 1962 in Assam. Ambu Bora is lives behind his three sons, a daughter, a son-in-law and five grandchildren. The Chief Minister also expressed his deep condolences on the demise of the great personality whose death has marked the end of a revolutionary chapter in modern political history of Assam.
