GUWAHATI: The registered tourist guides in the state of Assam have come together to form the All Assam Tourist Guides Association (AAToGuA). A statement issued by the organization mentioned that it was formed to set priorities for sustainable Tourism development by identifying location-specific needs of the communities based in Assam in particular and other North Eastern states in general and prioritizing unidentified potential places of tourism interest. The registered Tourist Guides of Assam gathered with the motive to promote more community-based and sustainable tourism. Seniors as well as new tourist guides are part of this new platform. The committee comprises tourist guides from different sectors. And they took a pledge to work for the conservation and protection of the rich heritage and natural resources of the tourist destinations of the state and to take a pivotal role in carrying forward awareness about responsible tourism. The statement mentioned that AAToGuA will act as a consultant, counsellor, facilitator, and provider of information in respect of any institution, organisation, or individual on Responsible tourism.
