Rituparna Pegu murder: Many Mising organizations demand capital punishment

GUWAHATI: Several Mising organizations staged protests at Noonmati on Saturday over the murder of Rituparna Pegu. The agitated people demonstrated outside the Noonmati Police Station and at the furniture shop where late Pegu was brutally stabbed to death in front of his wife and 7-month-old child on Friday.

The protestors demanded capital punishment and trial in Fast-track court for the 5 accused who have been arrested.

The accused have been identified as Hussain Ali, Dulal Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manuwara Khatum and Arman Ali. A case (294/20) has been registered against the accused u/s – 147/148/149/307 IPC. "We demand immediate action. This is the third gruesome incident of murder which has shocked the State during the lockdown. The accused should be hanged to set an example for the people," said a protestor.
