GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Beton Bonchito Kormoroto Prathamik Shikshak Santha (SABBKPSS) has appealed to the State government to solve their long-standing problems before the proposed recruitment of TET teachers.

From 1989-2001 the State government appointed a large number of teachers in various districts of the State. However, the legality of those appointments was raised later on. The matter was even dragged to the court but the solution is still elusive.

In a statement issued to the media on Thursday, Santha president Hemanjali Bhuyan Dutta said, “We’re now 12,000 such teachers working without salaries since our appointment. We had talks with each of the successive governments, resorted to agitations. There were talks at the officer and minister levels on our fate. We’re going to meet in an emergent meeting at Guwahati on February 11 when we’re going to take a pragmatic decision. We’re ready to hold talks with the Education Minister. We’re hoping against hopes to get a solution this time around.”
