GUWAHATI: Sadou Asom Beton Bonchito Karmaroto Prathamik Shikshak Sanstha (SABBKPSS) has urged the state government to clear all the pending salaries of the 4511 teachers who were given an appointment as teachers/tutors on January 30, 2021.

The Sadou Asom Beton Bonchito teacher's body's president Hemanjali Bhuyan Dutta and general secretary Basanta Neog stated that these teachers have been appointed as per state government's norms and have been work for years without salaries.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government in Assam formally appointed the teachers on January 30, 2021, in order to safeguard their services in Khananpara, Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned here that the teachers were deprived from salaries regularly for the past 4 months due to state budget constraints; however, in a couple of districts, few of the teachers are getting their salaries as per the old budget.

On the other hand, the Teachers' body alleged anomalies in the appointment process as, despite their qualifications and experiences, 44 teachers from the Sibsagar district were unable to get their names in the regular list.

Further 53 teachers were appointed as tutors although they had 'basic training'.

Meanwhile, 18 teachers have been appointed in two schools while some others who were appointed stand without any place of joining, i.e. schools name, and hence were unable to get appointment letters.

Questioning the future of the teachers in Assam, the Teachers' body highlighted two cases in which two teachers who were appointed on January 30, 2021, retired from their service just a day later, i.e. January 31st, 2021. Both the teachers are from the Sibsagar district and have been identified as Mukeshwar Gogoi from the Navajyoti Prathamik Vidyalaya and the other teacher has been identified as Monuwar Ali from Rudrasagar Prathamik Vidyalaya.

It is to be mentioned here that Mukeshwar Gogoi was appointed in the year 1999 and was posted as a Headmaster for last 6 years

The Teachers' body alleged that the then Education Minister who is now currently the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a portal will be launched in which all such anomalies would be rectified, however, no such thing has happened till now.

Henceforth, the body has demanded regular salaries of the appointed teachers and also provides assistance to the family of the teachers who has passed away or retired without any salaries.

Recently in order to remove all anomalies, the Sadou Asom Beton Bonchito Karmaroto Prathamik Shikshak Sanstha (SABBKPSS) also met Minister Jogen Mohan and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam and State Education Minister separately.
