GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) has welcomed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the State government's approval to the payment of retirement gratuity to employees under the NPS (New Pension System).
In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, SAKP secretary general Mrinal Das said, "A section of employees whose jobs have been regularized after 2005 will be benefitted if the decision comes into effect. To be specially benefitted under this decision are the teachers and employees whose posts were provincialized in 2005 in accordance with the decision taken by the State government in 2013. There are also other employees whose jobs were regularized in 2005. They will also be befitted for such a move. They'll get a dignified financial soccour.
"However, our demand for cancellation of the NPS so as to continue the old pension policy still stands. We're going to send separate memoranda to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister, the Chief Minister and the State Finance Minister to this effect."
