
GUWAHATI: People living in Guwahati and its nearby areas had quite a treat on Sunday as the 7th Assam International Agri-Horti Show-2022 entered its second day.
People belonging to different age groups could be seen flocking to the Agri-Horti Show and looking for the best deals to fill their gardens and balconies with the best ornamental and exotic plants. Nursery owners at the show have informed that they are having a good sale since the opening. Reportedly, each nursery has made profit nearly in lakhs and has received positive feedback. They further said that plants like calathea, aglonema, different varieties of snake plants and bougainvillea are favourites among the buyers whereas fruits like avocado, dragon fruit and different varieties of mango, especially miyazakl mango (also known as 'Egg of Sun') have attracted a lot of buyers.
The show has witnessed participation of various nurseries from various districts of Assam and other parts of the country. Around 40 nurseries have participated in the show, most of which have local exotic fruits and flowers. Various types of indoor plants as well as medicinal plants. Besides the nursery stalls, the show has various stalls exhibiting and selling processed food, spices, handloorn and many other items.
The technical sessions on 'Assam Millet Mission' and horticulture namely 'Horizontal Expansion in Horticulture' were informative. The Agri-Horti Business Meet was organized today with the objective of strengthening agri-horti market linkages. This special conference was attended by delegates of Nepal, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Ghana. Praising the show, Vietnam's Technology and Science Deputy head Andy Bul, who is visiting Assam for the first time, said that this show will open new doors for the farmers of Assam and the country that will strengthen the region's agri-econorny.
The 7th Assarn international Agri-Horti Show-2022, which began on December 17 at the grounds of the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati, will conclude on December 19.
