Sand art to create voting awareness among voters in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam took another innovative way under Systematic Voters' education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in the form of Sand Art at Rajaduwar Ghat, Guwahati to generate electoral awareness among voters.

A large sized sand art (40ft x 20ft) near Brahmaputra Bank was made by five artistes namely Pavan Das, Subhash Medhi, Jayanta Hazarika, Bidyut Nath and Himangshu Sarma. These artistes started working on it since Sunday midnight and completed it around 3:30 pm on Monday. This also marked the beauty of colours on the day of Holi festival and this creative initiative is an attempt to celebrate the colours of the democratic rights.

The art work depicts a man, a woman and a voter's finger which symbolizes voter participation from all sections of the society and is a humble attempt to make voter aware of the importance of voting rights and make them participate in the ongoing festival of democracy.

The 800 sq ft sized sand art was opened for public this afternoon. Dr Uday Praveen Joint CEO, Pulak Patgiri Joint CEO, Dimple Baruah Deputy CEO were present along with other officers of the Election Department, stated a release.
