GUWAHATI: In what can be called a case of perfect reversal, the Satgaon police on Saturday arrested Himangshu Agarwal whose FIR had led the police to arrest two youths – Raktim Kashyap and Asif Ali – on August 2, 2020. Agarwal was arrested based on a case (124/20) filed by Tutumoni Kalita.

In his FIR Himangshu Agarwal stated that he had been abducted by a few youths on July 31 from the Patharquary area, taken to a godown at BG Yard and made him pay Rs 97,000 through Google Pay. Following the FIR the police arrested Raktim Kashyap and Asif Ali on August 2.

However, the situation took a U-turn when Tutumoni Kalita filed a case in the police station. According to the police, Tutumoni told them that Himngshu Agarwal had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from the former and repaid Rs 97,000 to hatch a conspiracy of the fake abduction. Himangshu, according to the police, is working as an online bookie of gambling. The police also raided the Salpara residence of Diganta Bordoloi, who is the owner of the godown where Himangshu claimed to have been taken by his 'abductors'. Even as Bordoloi was not found at the time of the raid, the police recovered a pistol with ammunition and Rs 12.81 lakh cash from his residence.
