Senior Citizens Call on Social Welfare Minister

GUWAHATI, Sept 13: A three-member delegate of the Asom Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan called on Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum on Wednesday. In its memorandum, the Sanmilani has demanded to include representative of the Sanmilani in the State’s Senior Citizens’ Advisory Council and Senior Citizens’ Welfare Council according to the Assam State Policy for Senior Citizen, 2016. Moreover, the Sanmilani also demanded to raise the amount of old age pension from Rs 250 to at least 1,000. Moreover, they also urged that Social Welfare Minister to allot a plot of land to establish an office cum guest house for the senior citizens of the State according to the National Policy on Senior Citizens, 2011.
