Snatcher arrested by Geetanagar Police from SBI branch, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Geetanagar Police on Tuesday arrested a man who was planning to snatch money from people at the SBI (State Bank of India) branch in Geetanagar.

The person has been identified as Anurag Singh, a resident of Katihar, Bihar. As per reports, two of his accomplices fled the spot. The tip-off was given by the security guard of the bank who suspected Singh to be a miscreant. Singh was handed over to Geetanagar Police and he confessed that he is a snatcher. He was later handed over to Dispur Police Station as he might be related to a snatching incident that took place on Tuesday outside an SBI branch in Six Mile. Around Rs. 1.52 lakh was snatched from a person named Basanta Hatimuria by two bike-borne miscreants. Meanwhile, a case (C/no-291/2020 u/s-392 IPC) has been registered against Singh and further investigation is on.
