Student of Handique Girls College in Guwahati Commits Suicide

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident a student of Handique Girls College in Guwahati have committed suicide in the afternoon hours of April 22.

According to reports, the deceased identified as Savitri Roy who hails from Arunachal Pradesh was a final year student of Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA).

Sources at the college while speaking to The Sentinal said, "As the hostel premises is away from the college we got to know the news at around 1:00- 1:30 Pm only."

Further, the official at the college said that although the exact reason for the death is yet to be ascertained a suicide note has been found in which she mentioned- " I am the only reason for killing myself...please don't do any investigation."

Meanwhile, the Latasil Police reaches the spot and examine the deceased, and was later taken to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhary Hospital (MMCH) for post mortem. Read more

Fellow hostel mates at New Hostel said they broke open the door of her room after some of them peeped through the window and saw her hanging from the ceiling fan.

Currently, the parents of the deceased have been informed and will be able to take custody of the body once all the formalities are completed.
